In the Beginning…
Founded in 2006, Rainbow Circle of Friends & Family grew out of informal monthly potlucks that began in 1999, bringing together members of the LGBTQIA+ community along with friends and family. As participation expanded, these gatherings evolved from small social visits into large events.
In December 2006, the group formally established club status with the support of dedicated volunteers who developed a charter defining the organization’s name, leadership roles, structure, and governance. Following approval by the Sun City Board, Rainbow Circle of Friends & Family was officially formed.
